The Ministry of Labour of the Dominican Republic has issued an official communiqué confirming that the upcoming "Día de La Altagracia" annual non-working public holiday would be observed, as usual, on its traditional date of Saturday, January 21, 2017.

The Ministry of Labour goes on to remind the population that the upcoming January 26 public holiday for the "día del natalicio de Juan Pablo Duarte, Padre de la Patria", would be observed on Monday, January 30, 2017, as announced, earlier this month (2017-01-05).

Both aforementioned announcements are in line with last autumn's official listing of public holidays in the Dominican Republic for the year 2017 (2016-11-06), and follow the 1997 "Ley No. 139-97 mediante la cual los días feriados del calendario que coincidan con los días martes y miércoles, jueves o viernes" (1997-06-19), the law 139-97 which regulates non-working public holidays in the Dominican Republic.
