Gabon's ministre du du Travail, de l’Emploi et de la Formation professionnelle, Carmen Ndaot, has announced that the date of the upcoming Aïd El Kebir (Feast of Sacrifice) public holiday, would be observed as a non-working public holiday on Friday, September 1, 2017, throughout the Gabon.
As was generally the case in the past (2012-10-23, 2010-11-14 and 2010-09-08), but not systematically (2013-08-07), the aforementioned announced date of Friday, September 1, 2017, as the date of the upcoming Aïd El Kebir (Feast of Sacrifice) public holiday in the Gabon (communiqué n°003/MTEFP/SG/DGTMOE/DTR/SCGT) follows the Saudi Umm al-Qura calendar, as well as with the list of official non-working public holidays in the Gabon, as released, earlier this year (2017-01-17), by Gabon's Ministre du Travail, de l'Emploi et de la Prévoyance Sociale.
The 2 Muslim public holidays for the End of Ramadan and the Feast of Sacrifice were added to the list of Gabonese public holidays almost 20 years ago (1998-06-29).
