The Presidential Council of Libya and the Eastern Government of the House of Representatives of Libya have both decided to extend the annual May 1st, annual public holiday, created by the Law No.5 of 2012.
Five years ago (2012-04-29), Libya's ruling National Transitional Council had declared that Tuesday, May 1st, 2012, would be a non-working public holiday throughout Libya "for the first time ever". This declaration of May 1st as a non-working public holiday in Libya was repeated last year (2013-04-28).
The aforementioned announcement, apart from the extra day of public holiday on April 30, 2017, is in line with the Libyan National Transitional Council overhaul of the official list of national non-working public holidays in Libya, announced that same year (2012-01-08).
