The State Secretary of of Malaysia's State of Johor, Datuk Azmi Rohani, has announced that the government of Malaysia's State of Johor had not ruled out the possibility of declaring this Sunday, November 5, 2017, as a one-off special public holiday in Malaysia's State of Johor, should the Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) football team win the Malaysia Cup on Saturday, November 4, 2017.
Individual Malaysian states often declare one-off non-working public holidays on account of football and sport victories (2017-02-15, 2016-10-31, 2016-09-24, 2016-05-14, 2015-12-12, 2015-12-12, 2015-10-31, 2015-05-19, 2014-11-02, 2013-11-01, 2013-10-30, 2013-06-13, 2012-10-15, 2012-07-18, 2012-05-14, 2011-11-21, 2011-06-13, 2011-06-11, 2010-12-30, 2010-12-29, 2010-10-30, 2009-11-04,...), in particular the Malaysian states of Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Johor (2013-11-23), where the day after most important matches, Sunday, is a regular working day, but the declaration of a nationwide one-off public holiday in Malaysia, due to a sports event, is much rarer (2017-08-31).
