Pakistan Iqbal Day Public Holiday Ruled-Out

Pakistan's Ministry of Interior has once again ruled-out the rumoured declaration of Thursday, November 9, 2017, as a non-working public holiday in Pakistan on account of Iqbal Day.

Two years ago (2015-11-03), after some initial reports that the Ministry of the Interior of the Federal Government of Pakistan was considering declaring the eve of the, November 9, 2015, Pakistani non-working public holiday as an additional non-working public holiday in Pakistan, the Ministry of the Interior of the Federal Government of Pakistan did an about-face and canceled the Iqbal Day Public Holiday in Pakistan for the calendar year 2015.

Despite legal challenges to that ruling (2015-11-15), the cancellation was maintained in the "expected dates for public and optional holidays for the calendar year 2016" published by the Government of Pakistan (2016-02-01), in the Circular F. No. 2/4/2014 (2015-11-03) which points-out ("Public holiday declared for November 9, 2015, via the Ministry of the Interior circular number 2/4/2014 dated 2nd January 2015, is hereby canceled ab initio"), and again, late last year (2016-12-25) in the Ministry of Interior "Letter number F.No.2/4/-2017(Public)/Holidays", containing the annual list of the expected dates for non-working public holidays and optional holidays for the calendar year 2017 in Pakistan.
