Philippines Amends 2017 and 2018 Public Holidays

Philippines Presidential Executive Secretary, Salvador Medialdea, has announced that, on authority of President Duterte, he had signed Memorandum Circular no. 37 (MC 37), declaring Tuesday, December 26, 2017, and Tuesday, January 2, 2018, as non-working public sector holidays in the Philippines, in addition to the previously released lists of official public holidays in the Philippines for the year 2017 and for the year 2018.

As per the aforementioned announcement: "In order to give the employees of the government full opportunity to celebrate the holidays with their families and loved ones, work in government offices, including government-owned and -controlled corporations, government financial institutions, state universities and colleges, local government units, and other agencies and instrumentalities, is hereby suspended on 26 December 2017 and 02 January 2018".

The Memorandum Circular no. 37 (MC 37), declaring Tuesday, December 26, 2017, and Tuesday, January 2, 2018, as non-working public sector holidays in the Philippines, thus amends the list of 2017 non-working public holidays in the Philippines, as set out in Proclamation No. 50, s. 2016 (2016-08-18), as well as the list of 2018 non-working public holidays in the Philippines, as set out in Proclamation No. 269, s. 2017 (2017-07-19).
