In today's televised message to the Nation, Seychelles President Danny Faure announced that he would propose an amendment to the law that governs public holidays in the Seychelles, swapping the June 5 annual public holiday of the Seychelles for Easter Monday.

As per the aforementioned television address, "I've decided to propose an amendment to the law that governs public holidays. Firstly, the Monday following Easter Sunday will be a public holiday, a day where we continue to celebrate that which is greater than all of us: our Creator. Secondly, the 5th of June will be a normal working day, reinforcing the unity of our people".

The Seychelles public holidays legislation was last changed a couple of year ago, with the "Public Holidays (Amendment) Act, 2014" which amended the legislation governing the official list of annual non-working public holidays in the Seychelles with respect to 2 June public holidays in the Seychelles (2014-08-05 and 2014-07-09).
