Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree declaring early presidential elections in Azerbaijan, and hence moving the upcoming presidential election non-working public holiday in Azerbaijan from Wednesday, October 17, 2018, to Wednesday, April 11, 2018.

Five years ago (2013-08-20), Azerbaijan's Cabinet of Ministers had similarly issued a decree moving that year's presidential election non-working public holiday in Azerbaijan from Wednesday, October 16, 2013, to Wednesday, October 9, 2013, in line with the then recent (2013-05-01) amendments to the electoral code of Azerbaijan which declare the date of future elections as one-off electoral non-working public holidays in Azerbaijan.
