The Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit, has announced on facebook a one-off non-working public sector holiday in Dominica, for today Thursday, September 27, 2018, on account of the passage of tropical storm Kirk ("The general public is hereby advised that today, thursday, september 27th will not be a working day, in light of tropical storm Kirk.").
The aforementioned declaration of a one-off non-working public sector holiday in Dominica, on Thursday, September 27, 2018, thus further amends the official list of 2018 non-working public holidays in Dominica, as announced at the beginning of this year (2018-01-14), as, earlier this month (2018-09-12), Prime Minister Skerrit had similarly declared a one-off non-working public sector holiday in Dominica, on Thursday, September 13, 2018, on account of the passage of tropical storm Isaac.
Though these 2 announced one-off non-working public sector holidays in Dominica, only apply to the public sector, the Dominica government could enact legislation before the end of the year which would give authorities the right to declare a one-off public holiday for the private sector as well, in the event of an approaching storm or other natural disasters.
