The Office of the President of the Gambia, Adama Barrow, has declared Monday, February 19, 2018, as a non-working public holiday throughout Gambia "to mark the 53rd Independence anniversary celebration of The Gambia, which falls on Sunday, 18 February 2018".

The aforementioned announcement that Monday, February 19, 2018, had been declared as a non-working public holiday throughout Gambia is in line with past years' announcements (2017-02-16, 2016-03-23, 2016-02-17, 2015-09-17, 2014-01-11, 2013-08-07, 2012-11-07, 2012-07-20, 2011-12-27, 2011-04-29, 2011-04-21 and 2011-02-17).
