The supervisory body in charge of the banking sector in Guatemala (the Superintendencia de Bancos de Guatemala) has announced that bank holidays would be observed in Guatemala on Wednesday, October 12 and Wednesday, October 19, 2018, in conjunction with the annual, Día de la Unidad Nacional and Día de la Revolución non-working public holidays of Guatemala.
The aforementioned announcement ("Dada las conmemoraciones del Día de la Unidad Nacional (otrora Día de la Raza) y el Día de la Revolución, la Superintendencia de Bancos (SIB) confirmó la autorización para que se suspenda la prestación de servicios del sistema financiero guatemalteco, el 12 y 19 de octubre") is in line with the list of annual bank holidays in Guatemala and afferent rules thereto, as announced a decade ago (17-Dec-2009) in the "Reglamento de Asuetos de las Instituciones Bancarias que operan en la República (Resolución JM-129-2009)", which lists afternoon banks-only public holidays as well as some Monday banks-only public holidays in Guatemala when an annual non-working public holiday falls on the weekend, and amended itself a year later (20-Dec-2010), as well as with the list of official bank holidays for the calendar year 2018 in Guatemala released earlier this year (13-Jan-2018).
