Costa Rica's President, Carlos Alvarado, has announced that no one-off non-working public holiday would be declared in Costa Rica on account of the upcoming World Cup game against Brazil.

Last autumn (2017-11-09), Honduras' former President (2018-04-19) had issued an executive decree declaring Friday, November 10, 2017, beginning at 14:00 local time, as a one-off public sector holiday, on the occasion of the football game opposing Honduras and Australia in view of qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Similar football-related public holidays in Costa Rica have regularly occurred in the past (2014-06-24, 2014-06-19, 2014-06-15, 2013-10-15, 2013-09-24).
