Indian Central Government 2019 Public Holidays Released

India's Central Government's Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, has released the DOPT Order F.No.12/2/2018-JCA-2 containing its annual list of public holidays and restricted holidays to be observed in all the Administrative Offices of the Central Government of India, for the upcoming calendar year 2019.

As is often the case (2011-07-03, 2010-06-27, 2009-06-13, and 2008-06-15), but not always (2017-06-15, 2016-06-25, 2015-06-11, 2014-06-07 and 2014-07-16, 2013-06-15 and 2012-06-10), the aforementioned list of 2019 public holidays and restricted holidays to be observed by India's Central Government ("Holidays to be observed in Central Government Offices during the 2019 ") has a unique date for the northern Indian Diwali as for the southern Indian Deepavali.

As usual, the aforementioned list of 2019 public holidays and restricted holidays to be observed by India's Central Government includes the mention that "It may happen that the change of date of the above occasions has to be declared at a very short notice" and that "For offices outside Delhi / New Delhi, the Central Government Employees’ Welfare Coordination Committees at the State Capitals are authorised to change the date of holiday, if necessary, based on the decision of the concerned State Governments / Union Territories, in respect of Idu’I Fitr, Idu’l Zuha, Muharram and Id-e-Milad".
