The Government of the Malaysian state of Kedah has announced that October 22 had been declared as an occasional (one-off) state public holiday in conjunction with the Installation of the 29th Sultan of Kedah, Sultan Sallehuddin Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah.
Late last year (2017-11-15), the Government of the Malaysian state of Kedah had announced that the then upcoming January 21, state public holiday for the Birthday of the Sultan of Kedah, had been canceled and that no replacement date had been decided upon yet, thus amending the previous summer's release (2017-08-01) by Malaysia's Cabinet's and the Constitution and Government Relations Department of the Prime Minister's Office of the annual official Federal Public Holidays Schedule 2018 and State Public Holiday Schedule 2018 containing the list of official national non-working public holidays in Malaysia for the calendar year 2018 as well as the state-specific regional non-working public holidays in Malaysia for the calendar year 2018.
