The head of media at Jamia Mosque, Nairobi, Abu Ayman Abusufian, has confirmed that the hands of the Chief Kadhi are tied as pertains to the annual date of the Idd Ul Fitr non-working public holiday of Kenya, whose calculation is clearly spelled-out in the Kenyan Public Holidays Act.

Due to the aforementioned clause of the Kenyan Public Holidays Act, the annual Gazette Notices announcing the date of the Idd Ul Fitr non-working public holiday of Kenya are usually on a later date than many, though not all, other Muslim countries (2016-07-01, 2015-07-10, 2014-07-24, 2013-08-06, 2011-08-19, 2010-09-08 and 2009-09-11) with some rare exceptions (2012-08-13).
