The Bank of Latvia has in turn declared a one-off bank holiday in Latvia on September 24, 2018, on account of the upcoming visit of Pope Francis.
Last month (2018-06-23), the Latvian parliament passed in its final reading, by a vote of 68-5, using a fast-track procedure, a bill declaring a one-off non-working public holiday in Latvia on September 24, 2018, on account of the upcoming visit of Pope Francis, thus amending the list of 2018 public holidays in Latvia as announced and confirmed by the government of Latvia, earlier this year (2017-12-14 and 2017-02-26), and twice amended since then (2018-01-05 and 2017-12-29).
