The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection of the government of Moldova has released a draft of its annual official list of non-working public holidays, and bridge public sector holidays, in Moldova for the upcoming calendar year 2019.

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection plans on a month of consultations before approving the annual official list of non-working public holidays, and bridge public sector holidays, in Moldova for the upcoming calendar year 2019.

Until a few years ago, an initial list of non-working public holidays in Moldova for the upcoming calendar year was released, and later supplemented by the announcement of bridge public holidays which were usually announced on a case-by-case basis, to be compensated by a nearby Saturday being declared a regular working day in Moldova (2014-07-05, 2013-10-22, 2013-12-07, 2013-02-08, 2012-11-14, 2012-04-11, 2011-12-08, 2012-02-22, 2011-02-18, 2010-08-10, 2009-12-04 and 2008-12-10).

But, then, for the past 3 years (2017-11-29, 2016-10-17 and 2015-12-28), the initial announcement of the public holidays in Moldova for 2016, 2017 and 2018 were accompanied by a list of bridge public holidays to be compensated by a nearby Saturday being declared a regular working day in Moldova.

However, in 2017, the proposal to add 3 one-off 2017 non-working public holidays in Moldova to the annual official list of non-working public holidays in Moldova ("cu privire la zilele de odihna în anul 2017"), was stalled by opposition to it from Deputy Education Minister, Christine Boag, and was placed on hold "sine die" (2016-12-02). Later in 2017, 2 of these 3 one-off 2017 non-working public holidays in Moldova were confirmed, albeit at the last minute (2017-05-24 and 2017-04-26).
