The legislative amendment making May 9, Europe Day, an annual public holiday in Moldova was published earlier this week in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Moldova.
The aforementioned decree of promulgation of the document was signed by Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu after the head of state, Igor Dodon, was suspended, as he repeatedly refused to promulgate the legislative amendment repeatedly voted by parliament.
A few years ago (2016-07-21), the Moldavian government executive approved the declaration of Europe Day as a new annual non-working public holiday in Moldova. However, that decision to declare Europe Day as a new annual non-working public holiday in Moldova did not amend the list of the annual non-working public holidays in in Moldova, as May 9 is already an annual non-working public holiday in Moldova for Victory Day.
