The Ministry of the Interior of the Federal Government of Pakistan has announced 2 public holidays in Pakistan for the upcoming Ashura (Martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hossain) annual non-working public holidays in Pakistan for the calendar year 2018, as Thursday and Friday, September 20 and 21, 2018.

The aforementioned announcement of Thursday and Friday, September 20 and 21, 2018, as the dates for the upcoming Ashura (Martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hossain) annual non-working public holidays in Pakistan for the calendar year 2018, is in line with the 2018 public holidays dates in Pakistan announced in the "expected dates for public and optional holidays for the calendar year 2017" published by the Government of Pakistan early this year (2018-01-27).

Earlier this week (2018-09-10), the Ministry of the Interior of the Federal Government of Pakistan had already announced the date for the upcoming Ashura (Martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hossain) annual non-working public holiday in Pakistan for the calendar year 2018, as Friday, September 21, 2018.

A similar extension to 2 days of the Ashura (Martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hossain) annual non-working public holidays of Pakistan also occurred last year (2017-09-29).
