Sri Lanka Banks' Association, via the Sri Lankan Minister of Home Affairs, Wajira Abeywardena, has released its annual list of the official bank holidays in Sri Lanka for the upcoming calendar year 2019, in line with, but expanding upon, the official list of annual Sri Lankan public holidays for the upcoming calendar year 2019, as published earlier this summer.

As was the case in the past (2018-02-27, 2016-10-19, 2015-08-04, 2014-11-14, 2013-10-18, 2012-10-16, 2011-10-10, 2011-08-31, 2010-07-21, 2010-07-12 and 2009-07-06), the aforementioned list of 2019 bank holidays follows the summer's announcement, in the "Gazette of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka", of the 2019 public holidays in Sri Lanka (2018-07-01), which itself followed the announcement of the Full Moon Poya Days in 2019 (2018-05-14), and adds a few additional half-day bank holidays for some non-Poya public holidays falling on a Saturday or Sunday.
