The Sri Lankan President, Maithripala Sirisena, has announced that the Sri Lankan Government would declare Monday, May 7, 2018, as a non-working public holiday in Sri Lanka "taking into the consideration of the Vesak week, which coincides with the International Workers’ Day".

The aforementioned declaration of Monday, May 7, 2018, as a non-working public holiday in Sri Lanka thus amends the official list of Sri Lankan public holidays for the calendar year 2018, as announced last summer (24-Jul-2017).

It is not clear, yet, if the Monday, May 7, 2018, non-working public holiday in Sri Lanka, is in addition to the previously-announced, May 1st, public holiday, or in addition to it.
