The Government of India's state of Uttarakhand has declared a one-off non-working public holiday tomorrow, Friday, August 17, 2018, following the death of former PM and BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

The aforementioned declaration of Friday, August 17, 2018, as a one-off non-working public holiday in India's state of Uttarakhand, thus amends the notification of the annual list of the days which were to be non-working public holidays in India's state of Uttarakhand for the calendar year 2018 (2017-12-16) as was done on previous occasions (2017-10-25).

However, on this occasion, other Indian states have joined the state of Uttarakhand in declaring Friday, August 17, 2018, as a one-off public holiday, following the death of former PM and BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee, namely: Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab, Bihar Jharkhand, Haryana, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and, only for a half-day, West Bengal.
