Venezuela's president, Nicolás Maduro, has issued a decree declaring Monday, August 20, 2018, as one-off non-working public holiday in Venezuela to ease the transition to the new currency named the “Sovereign Bolivar”.

The aforementioned declaration of Monday, August 20, 2018, as one-off non-working public holiday to ease the transition to the new currency named the “Sovereign Bolivar”, thus amends the official list of the dates for the 2018 public holidays and banking holidays in Venezuela as announced last summer by the Sudeban (2017-07-01) in conformity with the "Ley de Reforma Parcial de la Ley de Instituciones del Sector Bancario".
