The Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (MTPS) of the Government of El Salvador has confirmed that Monday, June 17, 2019, would be a nationwide non-working public holiday in El Salvador on account of the annual Fathers' Day non-working public holiday of El Salvador.
A few years ago (2012-11-29), the government of El Salvador had issued a decree (Decreto Nº 208) declaring June 17 as a new annual non-working public holiday in El Salvador to mark Fathers' Day, to be observed by both the public and private sectors ("un privilegio del que gocen no solo los empleados públicos sino que abarque también al privado").
The following year (2013-06-06), a member of El Salvador's legislative assembly, Claudia Ramírez, had introduced a bill to restrict to the public sector only the observance of last fall's declaration of a new annual public holiday in El Salvador for Fathers' Day. However, the relevant committee, the Comisión de Cultura y Educación, never approved it ("por lo tanto el asueto para el sector público y privado se mantiene").
