The Guatemalan Government has released its annual list of official non-working public holidays in Guatemala for the calendar year 2020.
As was the case last year (2018-12-31), the aforementioned dates of the aforementioned list of official non-working public holidays in Guatemala for the calendar year 2020, contrary to past years (2018-01-13, 2017-01-15, 2016-01-25 and 2015-01-03), are are no longer based on the DECRETO NÚMERO 42-2010 ("Ley que promueve el Turismo Interno") (2010-11-16), passed in 2010 (2010-11-16 and 2009-01-21), but rather are based on the Law of Internal Tourism (2018-10-11, 2018-09-26 and 2018-08-09) which, through the Decreto 19-2018, mandates that that the May 1st, June 30th and October 20th, annual public holidays, when falling on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays or Sundays, should be moved to the working day immediately before or after the weekend.
