India 2020 Maharashtra Public Holidays Announced

The Government of India's state of Maharashtra has announced its annual list of the days which will be non-working public holidays in India's state of Maharashtra for the upcoming calendar year 2020.

As per custom (2018-12-10, 2017-11-12, 2016-11-20, 2012-11-24 and 2010-11-03), the aforementioned notification of the annual list of the days which will be non-working public holidays in India's state of Maharashtra for the upcoming calendar year 2020, are contained in Notification No. PHD. 1119/C.R.69/Desk-29 dated 9.12.2019, and issued by order and in the name of the Governor of Maharashtra by the Deputy Secretary to Government of Maharashtra, J. J. Valvi.

As per the aforementioned notification, "In exercise of the powers entrusted to it by the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs vide its Notification No.39/I/68/JUDI-3, dated the 8th May 1968, the Government of Maharashtra hereby declares the following days as Public Holidays in the State of Maharashtra during the calendar year 2020".

The notification also mentions 4 Maharashtra public holidays that are traditionally observed in Maharashtra, but which fall on a Sunday in 2020: Republic Day, Parsi New Year (Shahenshahi), Moharum, and Dasara.

subsequent amendments to the list of 2020 public holidays in Maharashtra are always possible (2019-09-25 and 2019-07-01).
