The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection of the government of Moldova has released a draft of its annual official list of non-working public holidays, and bridge public sector holidays, in Moldova for the upcoming calendar year 2020, which is set to be considered at the next meeting of Cabinet of Ministers of Moldova.

The aforementioned draft of the 2020 public holidays in Moldova contemplates the moving of 2 working days to a nearby weekend; January 6 and August 26, 2020, which would be moved to January 11 and August 15, respectively.

Until a few years ago, an initial list of non-working public holidays in Moldova for the upcoming calendar year would be released, and later supplemented by the announcement of bridge public holidays, usually announced on a case-by-case basis, to be compensated by a nearby Saturday being declared a regular working day in Moldova (2014-07-05, 2013-10-22, 2013-12-07, 2013-02-08, 2012-11-14, 2012-04-11, 2011-12-08, 2012-02-22, 2011-02-18, 2010-08-10, 2009-12-04 and 2008-12-10).

But, then, for the past 4 years (2018-11-27, 2017-11-29, 2016-10-17 and 2015-12-28), the initial announcement of the public holidays in Moldova for 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 were accompanied by a list of bridge public holidays to be compensated by a nearby Saturday being declared a regular working day in Moldova, despite somewhat of a snafu occurring in 2017 (2016-12-02, 2017-05-24 and 2017-04-26).
