The Cheong Wa Dae (the Korean presidential residence) has indicated that it was abandoning the idea of declaring Thursday, April 11, 2019, as a one-off non-working public holiday in South Korea to commemorate the centennial of the government in exile in Shanghai.

Last month (17-Feb-2019), we had reported that the Korean President would seek cabinet approval to declare Thursday, April 11, 2019, as a one-off non-working public holiday in South Korea to commemorate the centennial of the government in exile in Shanghai.

In recent years, some tentatively announced one-off public holidays in South Korea came to pass while others did not (12-Apr-2018, 10-Apr-2018, 05-Sep-2017, 27-Aug-2017, 28-Apr-2016, 25-Apr-2016, 04-Aug-2015, 02-Aug-2015).
