The government of Timor Leste has announced that it had once again decided to extend the annual Easter non-working public holidays in Timor Leste by declaring an additional day-off public sector holiday (toleránsia pontu) for Maundy Thursday, on Thursday, April 18, 2019.
As per the aforementioned announcement, this one-off public sector holidays is granted "all officials and agents of the Ministries or services of their dependents, as well as of the institutes and bodies integrated in the indirect administration of the State".
Contrary to the Easter public sector holidays declared in previous years (2014-04-15, 2013-03-25, 2012-04-04 and 2011-04-11), but in line with what happened for the past 4 years (2018-03-26, 2017-04-10, 2016-03-21 and 2015-03-31), in 2019, there will be no public sector holiday Easter Monday in Timor Leste.
According to the Secretariat of State of the Council of Ministers of Timor Leste, this decision is based on law No.10/2005, which overhauled Timor Leste's public holidays (2005-08-12) and the list of official public holidays in Timor Leste for the calendar year 2019, which was announced at the beginning of this year (2019-02-08).
