The Venezuelan regulatory body for the banking sector, Sudeban (Superintendencia de Instituciones del Sector Bancario) has announced that Thursday February 28, and Friday, March 1, 2019, would not be additional bank holidays in Venezuela, on account of the upcoming Carnival.

Last week (2019-02-21), Venezuela's president, Nicolás Maduro, had issued a decree declaring Thursday February 28, and Friday, March 1, 2019, as one-off additional non-working public holidays in Venezuela on account of the upcoming Carnival.

The aforementioned announcement that Thursday February 28, and Friday, March 1, 2019, would not be additional bank holidays in Venezuela, is in line with the official list of the dates for the 2019 public holidays and banking holidays in Venezuela as announced late last year by the Sudeban (2018-08-09) in conformity with the "Ley de Reforma Parcial de la Ley de Instituciones del Sector Bancario".
