The Alderney Policy and Finance Committee is considering a proposal which would change the details of the observance of the annual Alderney's Homecoming public holiday on December 15.

Currently, when the Alderney Homecoming public holiday, on December 15, falls on a weekend, a nearby Monday is declared a day in lieu public holiday on Alderney. Under the proposed plans, which were tabled last month, December 15 would becomes the official day for remembrance and that only this day would be a public holiday, regardless of the weekday on which it falls.

Recall that the States of Guernsey have moved the 2020 annual May Bank Holiday from May 4, 2020, to Friday, May 8, 2020, to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day (2019-11-05, 2019-09-10, 2019-08-14 and 2019-07-08).
