The Armenian Government has declared a one-off public holiday in Armenia on Friday, May 29, 2020, to link the Thursday, May 28, 2020, annual First Republic Day public holiday in Armenia, with the subsequent weekend.
As per the government announcement, "this is due to the fact that May 28 in Armenia is a day off in connection with the First Republic Day and this decision will provide residents with four days of rest in a row".
Usually, the working day is transferred to the following Saturday, but in this case, the head of the government apparatus, Eduard Aghajanyan, pointed out that "Usually, when making such decisions, the government transfers the working day to next Saturday, but I want to draw the attention of citizens to the fact that now the working day is postponed to the previous week".
