The Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Ali Asadov, has released an executive order declaring Friday, March 27, 2020, as a one-off bridge public holiday in Azaerbaijan, to create a 9-day period of consecutive public holidays around the annual Novruz holiday ("in order to provide consistency of working and non-working days").

As compensation fro the aforementioned declaration of Friday, March 27, 2020, as a public holiday, the government of Azerbaijan has declared that Sunday, March 29, 2020, would be a regular working day.

The declaration of Friday, March 27, 2020, as a public holiday in Azerbaijan, thus amends the list of non-working 2020 public holidays in Azerbaijan, including Muslim Azeri public holidays, and day in lieu public holidays due to some of Azerbaijan's 2020 annual non-working public holidays falling on a weekend, as released by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Azerbaijan, late last year (2019-12-17).
