Bangladesh's Cabinet has decided to declare March 7 as a Historic Day holiday, to mark the historic speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The aforementioned announcement ("The Cabinet approved a proposal placed by the Cultural Affairs Ministry for declaring March 7 as the ‘Historic Day’ to observe the day nationally and internationally, commemorating the historic March 7 speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman delivered in 1971"), made by Cabinet Secretary, Khandker Anwarul Islam, does not amend the official list of 2020 non-working public holidays in Bangladesh, as contained in the DFIM Circular Letter of the Ministry of Public Administration, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh (2019-11-25 and 2019-10-29), or any future ones, as the March 7 holiday will not be a public holiday, as Secretary Anwarul Islam pointed-out ("the day will not be a public holiday").
