The Deputy Governor of the British Virgin Islands has appointed the Public Holidays Review Committee to review the list of annual public holidays in the British Virgin Islands, and their method of calculation, "in particular Commonwealth Day and St. Ursula’s Day".
The Public Holidays Review Committee, appointed yesterday by the Deputy Governor of the British Virgin Islands, is tasked with a review of the recommendations of a similar commission, whose 2001 report (2001-05-18), was never acted upon.
That 2001 commission had been setup, a year after the "Public Holidays Amendment Act" replaced the "Birthday of the Heir to the Throne" BVI public holiday with a new on on the Monday nearest to the birth date of the first Chief Minister, Hon. H. L. Stoutt (2000-10-26).
