Guatemala's Ministry of Labour and Social Security (Mintrab) has announced that the upcoming Día del Ejército annual, June 30, public holiday of Guatemala, would next be observed on Monday, June 29, 2020 ("Informó a los trabajadores y empleadores que el descanso corresponde al lunes 29 de junio, de acuerdo con lo establecido en el decreto legislativo 42-2010 y sus reformas").

The aforementioned announcement that the upcoming Día del Ejército public holiday of Guatemala be observed on Monday, June 29, 2020, is in line with the list of 2020 Guatemala public holidays, announced last autumn (2019-11-17).

These 2020 Guatemala public holidays were based on the Law of Internal Tourism (2018-10-11, 2018-09-26 and 2018-08-09) which, through the Decreto 19-2018, mandates that that the May 1st, June 30th and October 20th, annual public holidays, when falling on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays or Sundays, should be moved to the working day immediately before or after the weekend.

In the meantime (2020-04-16), however, Guatemala's Constitutional Court issued a ruling removing the May 1st and October 20 public holidays from the scope of the 2018 Law of Internal Tourism.
