The Irish Government has announced that Cabinet was considering plans for an extra bank holiday (aka. public holiday) this Christmas, possibly on Monday, December 21, 2020, or early in 2021, "depending on the virus levels at the time".
Recall that, at the beginning of the current pandemic (2020-05-07), Irish Minister for Tourism, Brendan Griffin in the Dáil (Ireland’s parliament), announced that the Irish government was considering declaring a one-off special bank and public holiday in Ireland, "when lockdown restrictions are finally lifted", thus amending the previously released list of bank holidays and public holidays in the calendar 2020 in Ireland (2018-07-02).
