Jordanian Prime Minister, Omar Razzaz, is expected to issue a circular decreeing a non-working public holiday in Jordan on Thursday, August 20, 2020, to commemorate the upcoming annual Jordanian non-working public holiday for the Hijri New Year 1442 (Islamic New Year Holiday in 2020).

The aforementioned circular decreeing Thursday, August 20, 2020, to commemorate the upcoming annual Jordanian non-working public holiday for the Islamic New Year public holiday of Jordan, if it comes to pass, would be in line with the previously-released (2019-09-17), list of annual non-working bank holidays and public holidays in Jordan for the calendar year 2020.

The Jordanian government often moves mid-week public holidays to the nearest weekend (2019-04-24, 2017-04-26, 2015-12-04, 2014-01-07, 2013-10-31, 2013-04-19, 2013-01-17, 2012-04-24 and 2006-04-25), though not always (2019-05-20, 2016-05-13, 2016-04-26 and 2014-10-20). It is particularly the Labour Day, the Prophet's Birthday, and the Hijri New Year Jordanian public holidays, which are moved to adjoin a nearby weekend, but in the case of the expected date of Thursday, August 20, 2020, this will not be necessary.
