The Government of Kazakhstan has announced that Tuesday, December 1, 2020, as well as December 16-17-18, 2020, would be non-working public holidays in Kazakhstan, on account of the upcoming Day of the First President and Independence Day annual public holidays of Kazakhstan.
The Day of the First President public holiday, on December 1st, was declared an annual public holiday in Kazakhstan, a decade ago (2011-12-15), to commemorate the date in 1991, when Nursultan Nazarbayev was first elected as president of Kazakhstan.
Today's announcement of December 1, 16, 17 and 18, 2020, as public holidays in Kazakhstan, is in line with the previously-released annual list of 2020 public holidays in Kazakhstan (2019-11-05 and 2019-08-29), as contained in the decree Постановление Правительства РК о переносе дней отдыха в 2020 году which specifies that Saturday, December 20, 2020, will be a regular working day to compensate the one-off bridge public holiday on Friday, December 18, 2020.
