The Luxembourg Bankers' Association (Luxemburger Bankenvereinigung) has issued its annual list of official bank holidays in Luxembourg for the upcoming calendar year 2021.
The aforementioned announcement of the list of official bank holidays in Luxembourg for the upcoming calendar year 2021, is in line with the recent declaration of May 9 as a new annual public holiday in Luxembourg (2019-03-19, 2019-01-11, 2018-12-12, 2018-11-30).
As usual, when the list of Luxemburg public holidays contains public holidays that fall on a Sunday, the aforementioned list of bank holidays in Luxembourg for the calendar year 2021 contains the footnote "The Labour Day (1st May) and Christmas Day (25 December) fall on a Saturday and the Europe Day (9 May), the Assumption (15 August) and the St Stephen’s Day (26 December) fall on a Sunday. In such cases, the law stipulates that the employer must grant a compensatory day off within three months of the date of the public holiday (Art. L. 232-3 and Art. L. 232-6(2) of the Labour Code).".
