Mauritania Public Holiday October 30

Earlier today, Maurtitania's Présidence de la République issued a decree declaring Friday, October 30, 2020, as a non-working public holiday in Mauritania ("la journée du vendredi 30 octobre 2020 est chômée et payée sur l’ensemble du territoire national").

The date of Friday, October 30, 2020, assuming that it does correspond to the Mauritanian public holiday for the Prophet's Birthday, is in line with the list of the dates that were announced, late last year (2019-12-29), in the list of official non-working public holidays in Mauritania for the calendar year 2020.

The government of Mauritania often declares the day after Muslim public holidays as additional public holidays (2019-08-09, 2017-09-02, 2016-09-09, 2016-07-06, 2014-10-03, 2014-07-28).

But in the present case, this was not necessary, as, since 2014 (2014-09-12), and after many back-and-forth changes (2007-12-13, 2005-03-08 and 2001-03-14), Mauritania is back to Saturday/Sunday weekends.
