Niger Public Holiday August 21

Niger's Ministre de l’Emploi, du Travail et de la Protection Sociale has declared Friday, August 21, 2020, as the date of the upcoming 1er Muharram 1442 Islamic New Year public holiday of the Niger ("Conformément à la loi instituant les fêtes légales au Niger, la journée du vendredi 21 Août 2020 est déclarée chômée et payée sur toute l'étendue du territoire national").

The aforementioned declaration of Friday, August 21, 2020, as a non-working public holiday in Niger, as on previous occasions (2018-06-13, 2018-06-09, 2017-06-21, 2017-04-14, 2016-09-08, 2015-09-23 and 2015-07-16), refers specifically to the "Loi n° 97-20 du 20 juin 1997 instituant les fêtes légales" (1997-06-23) is also in line with the subsequent "Loi n°98-05 du 29 avril 1998 instituant les fêtes légales" (1998-04-29), as amended by the "Loi n°2006-08 du 02 mai 2006" (2006-05-09), and with last winter's announcement by the Government of Niger (2020-01-17) specifying the non-working public holidays in Niger for the calendar year 2020, and applies to both the private and public sectors.
