The governor of Puerto Rico, Wanda Vázquez Garced, has declared the Friday after the upcoming Thanksgiving public holiday of Puerto Rico, November 27, 2020, as well as Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, as a one-off non-working public sector holidays ("Firmé la Orden Ejecutiva 2020-084 con relación a la concesión sin cargo a licencia alguna del próximo viernes, 27 de noviembre de 2020, el jueves, 24 de diciembre de 2020 y el jueves, 31 de diciembre de 2020.").

The aforementioned declaration of Friday, November 27, 2020, as a one-off non-working public sector holiday, which happens relatively frequently (2019-11-18), thus amends the official list of 2020 public holidays in Puerto Rico, as released by the public sector's human resources department of the government of Puerto Rico (OATRH), in its annual "Memorando Especial 2019" of last year (2019-04-30).

Today's announcement ("En esta época navideña, estamos concediendo el viernes después del Día de Acción de Gracias, el Día de Nochebuena y la víspera de despedida de año sin cargo a licencia para que todos puedan celebrar esta temporada en familia. Aunque no será una Navidad tradicional, queremos que los empleados públicos puedan pasarlo en sus hogares con sus seres queridos") does go further than usual years, in which Christmas Eve is only a half-day public sector holiday, and New Year's Eve is a regular working day.
