The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation has announced that it does not plan to amend the list of official non-working public holidays in Russia in the calendar year 2020, as gazetted in the summer of 2019 ("Изменение перечня нерабочих праздничных дней в 2020 году не планируется.").
The announcement goes on to state that the list of the transfer of days off coinciding with holidays to other days in the next calendar year must be officially published no later than two months before the onset of the corresponding calendar year ("Нормативный правовой акт правительства Российской Федерации о переносе выходных дней, совпадающих с праздничными днями, на другие дни в очередном календарном году должен быть официально опубликован не позднее чем за два месяца до наступления соответствующего календарного года").
A draft of the list of official non-working public holidays in Russia in the calendar year 2020 was released in the spring of last year (2019-05-06) and gazetted in the summer (2019-07-13).
However, the omission of New Year's Eve 2019, in the list of 2020 public holidays in Russia, led many in the Russian social media to complain that the number of 2020 public holiday in Russia had been reduced, as compared to previous years (2019-11-14).
