The Sri Lankan government has extended the current March 16-19, 2020, coronavirus public holiday, mercantile holiday and bank holiday, throughout Sri Lanka, to include March 21-22, 2020, as well.
Last weekend (2020-03-14), the Sri Lankan Minister of Public Adminstration, Janaka Bandara Tennakoon, had already announced that Monday, March 16, 2020, had been declared a public holiday, mercantile holiday and bank holiday, throughout Sri Lanka, "to prevent the spread of coronavirus". That coronavirus public holiday was then extended to include March 17-19 (2020-03-16).
These 3 announcements thus amend the official list of Sri Lankan public holidays and bank holidays for the calendar year 2020 as announced last year (2019-10-05 and 2019-06-10).
Note that, the government of Sri Lanka also declared the week from Friday March 20 until March 27, as a period to “work from home” for both public and private sectors, but went on to specify that "the week declared to “work from home” was not a public holiday, except for 21st and 22nd March".
