Tonga's government has issued a communiqué confirming the previously-circulated list of official non-working public holidays in Tonga for the upcoming calendar year 2021.

Late last month (2020-10-29), a list of 2021 public holidays in Tonga, penned by Tonga's Ministry of Information and Communications in conjunction with the Prime Minister's Office of the Government of the Kingdom of Tonga, had briefly been available on the official website of the Tongan government, before being pulled-off.

Both aforementioned list of 2021 non-working public holidays in Tonga are similar and in line with the "Public Holidays (Amendment) Act 2010" (Act No. 10 of 2010) which moves the date of some mid-week public holidays to the nearest Monday (2010-05-19 and 2010-04-08), which has usually been the case in recent years(2019-11-20, 2019-01-10, 2018-01-05, 2016-12-24, 2015-11-12, 2014-12-20 and 2014-01-02), with some exceptions (2013-01-04 and 2012-01-06).
