In a communiqué released earlier this morning, the Algerian government's Direction générale de la Fonction publique et de la Réforme administrative has announced that Saturday, June 12, 2021, had been declared a one-off non-working public holiday, for both the private and public sectors, on account of the upcoming legislative elections in Algeria.
The aforementioned announcement applies to both the private and public sectors ("Une autorisation spéciale d’absence rémunérée sera accordée samedi prochain, jour du scrutin législatif, à l’ensemble des travailleurs, tous secteurs et statuts juridiques confondus, pour leur permettre d’exercer leur droit de vote"), and is in line with what was done 2 and 4 years ago (2019-12-02 and 2017-05-02), five years before that (2012-05-05) and again five years before that (2007-05-17 and 2007-02-17), when one-off public holidays were also declared in Algeria to facilitate participation in the parliamentary elections of 2019, 2017, 2012 and 2007.
