Algerian Revolution Day Public Holiday 2021

The Algerian Direction générale de la Fonction publique et de la Réforme administrative has announced that Saturday, May 1st, 2021, had been declared a non-working public holiday in Algeria on account of the "fête du travail".

The aforementioned announcement ("À l'occasion de la fête du travail et conformément à la loi n°63-278 du 26 juillet 1963 modifiée et complétée fixant la liste des fêtes légales, la journée du samedi 1er mai 2021, est chômée et payée pour l'ensemble des personnels des institutions et administrations publiques, des établissements et offices publics et privés"), as were past ones (2019-04-26, 2018-04-29, 2017-04-25, 2016-04-27 and 2015-04-27), is in line with current public holidays legislation in Algeria (2014-10-29) and applies to both the private and public sectors of Algeria.

Recall that, for the past decade, Algerian weekends have been observed on Friday/Saturday, as per the "décret n°09-244 du 22 Juillet 2009, modifiant le décret exécutif n°97-59 du 03 Mars 1997", which took effect on August 14, 2009, changing weekends in Algeria from the Thursday-Friday to the mixed or semi-universal Friday-Saturday (2009-07-24, 2009-05-05, 2007-06-27 and 2005-01-11).
