The government of Chile has confirmed that the upcoming celebración de las Fiestas Patrias 2022 will encompass 3 consecutive days of non-working public holidays in Chile, from September 17 to September 19, 2021, inclusively.
Eventually, the rule was formalized into a bill introduced by Chilean member of Parliament, Ricardo Rincón (DC), to further extend the September "Fiestas Patrias" annual non-working public holidays in Chile by making September 17 a non-working public holiday when both the 18th and 19th fall on a weekend (2012-11-15 and 2012-10-26).
The September Chilean public holidays are addressed by multiple pieces of legislation, each covering a special case of the 2-day holidays falling on a different weekday (2019-07-31, 2018-07-21, 2016-12-30).
