The Ministère de l'emploi, travail et prévoyance sociale of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), has announced that Saturday, May 1st, 2021, had been declared a public holiday in the RDC.

The aforementioned announcement, signed by Labour Minister Claudine Ndusi M'kembe, states that "Le ministre de l'emploi, travail et prévoyance sociale, informe les employeurs, les travailleurs et la population en général, que la journée de samedi 1er mai 2021, fête internationale du travail, est déclarée chômée et payée sur toute l'étendue de la République démocratique du Congo", and is in line with the previously-announced, annual list of the non-working public holidays in the DRC for the calendar year 2021 (2021-01-06).

Interestingly, Minister M'kembe went on to specify that there would be an additional public holiday on Friday, April 30, 2021, for those workers who follow "la semaine anglaise", that is to say who only work from Monday to Friday ("En ce qui concerne les entreprises qui pratiquent la semaine anglaise, le congé débutera le vendredi 30 avril 2021. ").
